ConfusedSo what’s it going to be sprint car fans? Big cars? Small cars? Wings? No wings? Pavement? Dirt? There are many choices to be made this weekend.

First and foremost, the long-awaited return of the Florida Winged Sprints is Saturday night at the revitalized Auburndale Speedway. Quite a few sprint car fans have been anxiously awaiting this one.

In other winged sprint car action, you’ve got the return of the FSCA to Putnam County on Saturday night. It will be interesting to see who shows up for this one.  The car count slipped a bit at the last race and to the best of our knowledge this is the season closer for the FSCA.

Over at the home of Bobby Bucks, Charlotte County Motorsports Park welcomes back Geoff Styner and crew with the FMARA. Our “little friends” have had some time off and we’ve heard a possible new entrant bought some equipment, so hopefully a good car count is in order. If you want to save some money on getting in to see the show, click here to read how. We hear that Gary guy is pretty cool, but in desperate need of a nickname. There also appears to be a BobbyBucksPalooza going on with like 10+ bands playing at some point.

And finally, THE BIG NEWS IN SPRINT CAR RACING THIS WEEK!

That’s right, you read it right here first, an Internet exclusive so shocking only we can print (post?) it…the return of “The Hot Foot” Brian Penrose to mini sprint competition!

We’ll give you a minute to dust yourself off from falling out of your chair…

That’s right, the FMSA will be at Hendry County Motorsports Park this Saturday. There is a lot of positive buzz around HCMP these days and that buzz will only get louder as the mini sprints buzz around the track. Thanks to one Steve Heisler, “The Hot Foot” should have his motor issues sorted out and all will be right with the world.

This of course means that we must state once again to the female brathrowingrace fans in the HCMP stands Saturday night – please refrain from throwing your bras at our Editor at Speed during hot laps. It’s a danger to all of those involved. If you would like your undergarments autographed by our Editor at Speed, please report to the Penrose Motorsports hauler after the races and request your autograph at that time. We also respectfully ask that you form a neat and orderly line when doing so as last time a few fans got trampled and Brian lost his favorite “Free Mustache Rides” cap in the process.

So that’s it sprint car fans, a veritable Battle Royal of sprint car racing options battling it out for your hard-earned money…

Breaking News – 08.13.09

BreakingNewsWhat is the big news in sprint car racing this week?

Is it that Mark Ruel Jr. picked up the checkers at Putnam County Speedway Saturday night? Sadly, no. But congratulations to Mark on picking up the victory! While we didn’t have a warm body there to cover it, we understand it was a very popular victory nonetheless because by all accounts most everybody likes Mark. And while his name is spelled wrong in the final results, good to see Rich PRATT out there again.

HotFootPenrose2The big news in sprint car racing, is that we need a new nickname for FSCF.com staff member/mini sprint driver formerly known as Flyin’ Brian Penrose. With Flyin’ Ryan Partin on board with us now as our official driver, it’s simply too confusing. And with Flyin’ Ryan leading the Top Gun points, he clearly is flying at the moment.

We may now have to refer to Mr. Penrose as “The Hot Foot” Brian Penrose because he’s a big Jason Myers fan and I think his motor put fluids everywhere the last time out and the temperature around Brian’s feet was a little warm.

And unfortunately, Brian “I’ll Get You a Good Deal on Office Furniture” Penrose doesn’t fit on a t-shirt very well. Though we do like the idea of selling t-shirts with a drawing of Brian’s mini sprint obliterating office furniture as he broadslides through a turn.

If you’ve got any suggestions – we’re all ears.

It’s the battle of the counties this weekend, Saturday to be precise, for your sprint car racing needs people! Some would dare say this would be akin to a “Loser Leaves Town” match from back in the Gordon Solie days.

In one corner – in the maroon trunks, with a much greater height and weight advantage, is Putnam County Speedway with the FSCA.

In the other corner, in the light blue trunks, hailing from Hendry County is the one and only Hendry County Motorsports Park, featuring the FMSA.

Who will win this David vs. Goliath match? Who will get your hard-earned money? I guess it depends on whether you like big or small sprint cars and where you live really. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

brathrowingSpecial note to the ladyfolk – Flyin’ Brian Penrose will not be in competition at Hendry County Speedway, though he may be in the pits or stands to show his support. As always, we please ask that you not throw your bras at Brian unless he is seated in the stands. And if you do throw your bra at Brian, please write your phone number legibly on said bra so he can return it to you.

And one last note – the podcast is complete and should be posted sometime today. I’m working on putting in a new interface to make it easier for you guys to download/listen.
