HoganTSettleTheScoreTBARA – 17 cars

CFSS – 19 cars

TBARA Winner – His Holiness Dave Steele

CFSS Winner – “The Flying Fireman” Scott Adema (We’re just not comfortable saying “Scotty 2 Hotty” on a regular basis.) Sorry Scott.

As expected the TBARA car count was down and the CFSS car count was up.

CFSS Quick Recap: Over at Citrus County, heat wins went to Brian Maddox, Scott Adema and Keith “I’m No One’s” Butler. For the feature, Scott Adema lined up on point and was never caught. The Shane Miller cars looked good as did Keith Butler and Mickey Kempgens, both of whom had their progress interrupted by spins/altercations.

TBARA Quick Recap: Down at Desoto Speedway, heat wins went to points protagonists Travelin’ Troy DeCaire and His Holiness Dave Steele. The feature got off to a rough start with some cars ending their night on the spot – Dakota Stephens, Todd Schmidt and Johnny Gilbertson. Then on the second restart Ben Fritz night came to a quick end – sucks for Ben because he just came back out after getting his engine updated. Bo Hartley took the early lead but broke a panhard bar bolt unfortunately. His Holiness Dave Steele then decimated the field, lapping all the way up to second place.

CFSS Quick Notes – Joey “The Ace” Aguilar’s night was a short one due to mechanical issues, sending him spinning into the infield. FSCF.com favorite “Double G” Gary Gimmler put in a fine workman drive to come home fourth – followed by friend of the website Amanda Ferguson. Given the depth of the field, that’s an excellent result for young Amanda. Apparently Scott Adema wants to get in the fight for “hottest driver in the state” with his second win in a row.

TBARA Quick Notes – The start of this race brings back to mind the day that CART ran opposite the “new” IRL and had that huge crash at the start of the race. The TBARA was already down on cars (no Terry DeCaire entry either) and the wrecks didn’t help. Without Travelin’ Troy’s car staying under him (same for Bo Hartley) it was all over. Still – give a shout out to Todd Schmidt for a fine second place heat run. And also give a shout out to Jim Alvis, Sr. to come home third. Good to see him rebound from the mess at the Panhandle races.

General Update – 08.05.09

GenAnnounceGraphicWe’ve updated the schedule of races for this month, to the best of our knowledge. Some of the series like to keep us guessing though. One thing we would like to point out is that for the first time ever Limited Sprints will be competing at Hendry County Motorsports Park on August 15. Since there aren’t any other sprint car races going on that weekend we hope everyone will come out and show their support.

Brazil1

We would also like to point out that the TBARA website has finally been updated to show that Larry Brazil Jr. did indeed win the race that muggy July evening at Desoto Speedway. Now if you are hoping for some sort of race recap there, giving you great detail of young Larry’s dominating win, well, your name is Chuck and you are out of luck. Lucky for you, we covered the race.

In other news, we did add a few more driver websites into our list. If you’re a sprint car driver with a website and we missed you, drop us a line.

We’ve also got a few 10 Questions out with some drivers at the moment, so hopefully we will have new ones posted shortly.

And we finally worked through our recording studio issues and recorded yet another verbal tour de force known as the July edition of the FloridaSprintCarFans.com podcast, with in-depth coverage in the following riveting areas of discussion:

1.              What’s the big news in auto racing?

2.              The races we’ve been to in the last 30 days.

3.              Racing Safety – our new initiative.

4.              Regular Feature: His Holiness Dave Steele – Mortal Man or God Among Us?

5.              TQs: What can be done to help?

It was another long-winded affair chock full of witty quips, shocking insights, a possible breaking announcement and what we think are some good promotion ideas.

Editing should be done shortly and the podcast will hopefully be posted by the weekend.
