This weekend’s sprint car races – 10.21.11.
Posted by: | CommentsIt was quite a week with our website getting hacked and all, but we survived and we’re anxiously looking forward to this weekend’s cool weather and some sprint car racing.
First thing is first though. If you would like to attend the memorial services for Dan Wheldon, his wife has invited anyone that wishes to attend and the services will be held on Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg, 701 Beach Drive N.E. in St. Petersburg. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m.
If you head south afterward, you might as well truck on down to Punta Gorda Speedway, oddly enough located in Punta Gorda, and take in some TQ action. Points leader Mike Belusar had a rough go of things last time out, but still has a sizable points lead. And quite frankly Punta Gorda Speedway might be the best value in the state, as tickets are only $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors, 12 and under are free. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00 p.m.
Speaking of the smaller sprint cars, the Florida Mini Sprint Association returns to action at North Florida Speedway Saturday night as well. Chris Pacetti looks to keep his streak rolling toward championship honors as the driver that was providing the biggest threat, Justin Kolves, has dropped out of competition and we probably won’t be seeing him for quite some time. But allow us to throw the name Harold Matthews out there if you’re sitting in the stands wagering with your friends. He’s always strong at Lake City. There is also a costume contest for Halloween this week, with a bicycle going to the child with the best costume, so a fun time should be had by all.
The Top Gun Sprint Series big dogs on the porch will be at Bubba Raceway Park Saturday night for another round of wingless sprint action. By all accounts last weekend’s action was a very positive experience for drivers and fans alike, so we’re hoping as our Editor at Speed put it, that BRP can become “the Gas City of the South!” Expect all of the teams that showed up last time and maybe even a few extra that were sitting on the fence last time to see how things panned out. One thing is certain though, do not bet against Danny “The Hammer” Martin Jr.
Speaking of the last time out at Bubba Raceway Park, let’s watch some footage of Haulin’ Collin Cabre making his dirt debut last time out.
It rained. Everywhere. Really.
Posted by: | CommentsNo sprint car races happened.
Since we didn’t get to see Haulin’ Collin Cabre make his debut on dirt Saturday night at East Bay, let’s take a look at him practicing instead, since it’s raining again today and you have no conceivable reason to leave the house.
So how did Team Florida do this past weekend?

Haulin' Collin Cabre picked up a heat win at the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprints race at Anderson Speedway, but brakes failure ended his feature early, bringing home a 16th place finish.

Look closely and you'll see Travelin' Troy DeCaire working on his new ride. At Anderson, Troy came home third and at the MSRXSS race at Winchester, Troy had victory within his grasp when a leaking tire relegated him to second place. But Troy did regain the MSRXSS points lead.
