The club asked us to pass along the following for those of you looking to run at Citrus County:

Our 2011 USAC license application will have to be filled out at our first race at Citrus County Speedway on February 5. You can not go online on the USAC website to get the application at this time since they are experiencing computer problems. If any team would like the application sent to them, you can send Kirk Wilson an email at winglesssprints@yahoo.com with your name and address and he will mail you one so you can save some time at Citrus County.

There is also a reminder that all crew members that work on the cars and drivers must have a USAC Southeast Sprint Car series 2011 license. Please arrive early at the track on February 5 to get your application. You will not be allowed on the track to practice or race if you have not completed and paid for your license.

If you have any questions, please call Kirk Wilson at 540-255-5161 and you can also check their website.

Once again we’re blessed with some great action shots from Mr. Winger at Citrus County Speedway.

And for you Top Gun fans, “The Rocket Man” Bruce Durden put an end to the strangle hold that Danny “The Hammer” Martin Jr. has had on the series as of late. More to come!

And the Citrus County race report will be up on Monday.

Enjoy!

The driver of the night - "The Commando" Brian Gingras.

Jimmy Alvis Sr., Mickey Kempgens and Tommy Nichols in heat action.

"Slick" Ric Voisey, Jimmy Alvis Sr. and Dakotah Stephens go at it.

"Double G" Gary Gimmler was in the house, running up front all night.

Colin Cabre and Brian Gingras racing hard.

Troy DeCaire and Brian Gingras in heat action.

"The Incident" getting started as Wendy Mathis, Shane Miller and Matthew Hall are trying to get into formation after Mathis spun to bring out the yellow.

It's Citrus County, you'll have this. Colin Cabre and Shane Miller get together.

Tommy Nichols was fast in his return but had a problematic evening, here spinning right in front of photographer Mr. Winger.

Dakotah Stephens, Dennis Misuraca, Colin Cabre and Shane Miller getting after it!

And so it came to pass that last evening the monthly FSCF.com staff meeting was held at the local Ker’s Wing House in Orlando and while we (Todd, Brian, Josh and our Factory Driver Flyin’ Ryan Partin) talked about many things concerning sprint car racing here in Florida, the big topic of conversation was, “just what in the bloody hell is the big announcement going to be at Citrus County Speedway on Saturday?”

Of course, we could say that “the big news in sprint car racing in the state of Florida,” is the fact that we’ve turned our backs on Hooters as a place to hold our monthly staff meetings and have started going to Ker’s Wing House instead, but that’s really here nor there…

So we got a special invite to head out to Citrus County Speedway this Saturday because it appears that the Central Florida Wingless Sprints Series is going to have an announcement of biblical proportions and since we enjoy us some wingless racing, it got our tongues to wagging.

Now keep in mind that between the four of us we had three pitchers of Yuengling, one pitcher of Blue Moon as an appetizer and then approximately 70 wings. 70 wings only because our Factory Driver is watching his figure or something and had to get 20 wings of his own, all unbreaded and such. 75% of our dining party still believes that unbreaded buffalo wings are for godless communists and he should move back to Russia to be with like-minded eaters, but nonetheless here is what we came up with:

  • Perhaps they will run both dirt and pavement?
  • Perhaps they will turn back the hands of time and run dirt cars on pavement?
  • Treaded dirt tires?
  • They are going to a “True Florida Championship Series” and hit every pavement track (like Bronson and Auburndale) in the state?
  • The winner of each race will be provided with a tuba that they will then have to play in victory lane?
  • They’ll toss a coin before each race to see if wings will be run or not?
  • Steel head motors?
  • Allowing crate/spec motors?
  • Going with an old school Le Mans type of start with each driver having to run from the infield to their car, strap in and drive away?
  • It should be noted that not having an onboard starter kills that previous idea dead in the water, but note the beer intake stated previously…
  • There will be a foot race amongst the drivers to set the starting grid of each race?
  • The top three finishers of the feature will then engage in a battle of “rock, paper, scissors” in victory lane to determine the final feature winner?
  • There will be an off-season competition for a CFWS Trophy Girl?

Are we close? Who knows…

We’ll just have to head out to Citrus County Saturday night and find out for ourselves we suppose, but at the very least we hope that last bullet point is considered.
