Archive for Traci DeCaire

Relatively new to the Florida sprint car scene, Traci DeCaire is competing for Rookie of the Year honors this year with the Central Florida Wingless Sprint Car Series. Traci drives the #01 wingless sprint car and also is running selected TBARA races in the #01 winged sprint car. And oh yeah, you might have heard of her brother Troy.
Some of Traci’s answers are short and sweet, like some might say about Traci herself, though I’ve never actually stood next to her, so I can’t verify the short part.
Ladies and gentlemen, we present – 10 Questions with Traci DeCaire!
Who got you involved in sprint cars? Well, I always went to Eastbay Raceway in Florida and watched sprint cars and loved watching all of them. Then I started to see more and more girls racing them and it was always in the back of my head to maybe get into stock cars, but never did it cross my mind that I would be where I am at now. I owe this all to my dad taking me out to Citrus County Speedway to practice a sprint car and thats where it all started for me.
What is your favorite track to race at and why? I would have to say Columbia Motorsports Park or DeSoto Speedway because it is fun racing and lots of competition there at both tracks.
Which is your favorite car – wings or wingless? Well, I really don’t have a favorite. They are both fun to drive and it takes a lot of talent to do both.
Which track has the best food? Wow, this is my favorite subject! I don’t have a favorite track food stand because my mom is my favorite cook, but I will say this – Lake City has funnel cakes and that is so awesome! Ha.
Who is your toughest competitor? I would have to say my toughest competitor is myself. Because I am just getting started and having a full season this year, I just want to finish strong and do good and when I feel I can do better, I get down on myself pretty hard. Other than that, it would have to be my brother Troy.
What is your favorite restaurant? I love anything Italian or BBQ. I just love food, period!
Have you ever seen snow? No, I have not seen snow, but maybe this will be my year.
What restaurant has the best buffalo wings? Buffalo Wild Wings has the best wings and Hooters comes in a close 2nd.
What is your favorite kind of orange juice? No pulp…with ice.
What’s down the road for you career-wise – USAC, ARCA, Firestone Indy Lights? Well, I am going to start working out and getting my stats up and maybe with in a year and half I can try getting on dad about taking me out to Indy, but for right now I am working on my Rookie title.
So what did we learn today? Traci likes to eat, and I agree with her 100% on those buffalo wing choices. And while I only drink pulp-free orange juice as well, God did not give me teeth to use as a strainer after all, ice? In orange juice? Really?
