This weekend’s sprint car races – 06.22.12

Check the weather before you head out to the tracks this weekend.

This weekend is going to be a wet one and most of the pavement tracks have already given up on this weekend based on the forecast, so if you’re heading out to East Bay or Marion County Speedway on Saturday give a call ahead to make sure things are a go. Speaking of giving up, the TBARA gave up on the upcoming Panhandle tour if you haven’t heard.

First up is a sweet double bill at East Bay Raceway Park as the Top Gun Sprint Series rolls into town with most recent victor “The Peruvian Outlaw” Mark Ruel Jr. sitting atop the points, albeit narrowly over “The Jacksonville Jet” Matt Kurtz. Our Factory Driver Flyin’ Ryan Partin is sitting third in points but is not making the tow to East Bay this weekend.

As usual, you can expect the East Bay faithful like Sport Allen, Stephen Darvalics and Tim George (who have been missing from the BRP action) to pull into the pits and defend their turf. In theory we should also see the return of Danny “The Hammer” Martin Jr., who passed on BRP for some USCS competition the last time out.

On the undercard is the Florida Mini Sprints Association and the man with the hot hand right now is Gavin Thomas, who has to take the championship fight to Eddie Moss this weekend. Saturday night also marks the return to mini sprint competition of our Editor at Speed “The Hotfoot” Brian Penrose as the Penrose Racing hauler is scheduled to truck over to East Bay on Saturday.

If you’re not a coastal, or winged, type of person the Southern States Lightning Sprints will be at their usual home of Marion County Speedway on Saturday night.

If you missed out on the last Top Gun Sprint Series race at Bubba Raceway Park, fear not, watch the video below put together by one Chase Cabre (who we here will be making his FMSA debut at some point this year…) he the son of Lightning Lou Perez and brother of Haulin’ Collin Cabre.

Enjoy.
