More Breaking News – Straight From the Mouths of the Drivers.

How cool are our Florida sprint car drivers? Two of them sent us messages from the track last night/this morning. So to answer the question – pretty damn cool.
Out in Indiana, Travelin’ Troy DeCaire was tearing it up while he laid down passes that we here in Florida know him for all too well.
Troy qualified eighth and won his feature race. So then obviously Troy started eighth in the feature… For those of you fortunate enough to see Troy at work on fast high-banked tracks (like Mobile earlier this year, as just one example, or New Smyrna during SpeedWeeks) you know that when the green drops he’ll pull passes on the outside that the general population is not accustomed to seeing.
Troy worked his way through traffic like a hot knife through butter all the way up to second place, just got up to theĀ race leaderĀ and then the damn yellow came out. With only a few laps to go, Travelin’ Troy couldn’t get back around the leader and had to settle for second.
Awesome job Troy and good luck in today’s USAC race!
Back to North Carolina once again.
Amanda Ferguson dropped us line from the Hickory Motor Speedway to keep us up to date on the sprint car action up yonder.
Unfortunately for Amanda, at about the lap 19 mark her number seven cylinder started misfiring and then she developed a severe vibration. Not wanting to tear up her motor she pulled off and finished, in her words, “a dismal 14th.”
She also passed along that Dakotah Stephens came home 13th with mechanical issues, but new father Blaze Martin came home second.
Awesome job Blaze! Clearly the lack of sleep from being a new dad is not slowing “The Quiet Assassin” down on the track.
See a pattern here folks?
Friday night – Matt Kurtz, second.
Saturday night – Troy DeCaire, second.
Saturday night – Blaze Martin, second.
We know Travelin’ Troy is down on HP compared to the USAC regulars for today’s show, but you never know…
And I almost forgot – did I call that Greg Hodnett win for the WoO show at Williams Grove or what? Thank you, thank you and thank you. ![]()
