DRINKS ORDERED: N/A
DRINKS GRADE: N/A
CROWD GRADE: D Unfortunately the attendance is getting worse and not better at DeSoto. Is it over saturation with the TBARA? Is it always this bad?
NUMBER OF SPRINT CARS: 26
WHO WON: His Holiness Dave Steele
FSCF.COM DRIVER OF THE RACE: Sonny Hartley Sonny lead a majority of the feature and not to mention way back in the day his sprint car was the first sprint car I ever sat in as a kid. Awesome job Sonny!
SERIES GRADE: A. Healthy car count and competitive feature race.
TRACK GRADE: B Track was fairly racy after the brief shower that passed just before the start of the night’s racing.
REST OF THE RACING GRADE: D. Four and six car features make for a pitiful show.
OTHER NOTES: I had the pleasure of meeting Craig Skene, an Australian dirt sprint car driver (I knew I liked him as soon as he said he ran dirt and that he use to work with Jack Hewitt). Craig was a super guy and he’s going to be at a few more races during his stay here in the states. Hope to see him around some more…It was a dirt fan’s dream night at DeSoto as current East Bay & Auburndale points leader Paulie Milum was roaming the pits. Also heard Super Man Sport Allen was in attendance…Have to give a call to Wendy Mathis as she had a strong 4th place run going in the feature before a couple of “racing deals” dropped her to a 9th place finish…The “Bushnell Bullet” Shane Butler was fast again, with another second place run. They have definitely found a fast set-up. Team car Steve Heisler was fast as well before late handling problems relegated him to a 10th place finish…Also have to say thanks to Lee Cipray for some shock advice with the #80 car as well as Don Heckman for stopping and talking shop with me.
RACE REPORTER: “The Hot Foot” Brian Penrose
That was the worst crowd ever at DSS TBARA event,I’ve been to 98% of em in last 5 years.
